A poem

She’s always there, sitting on my shoulder, whispering sweet nothings in my ear
“Why can’t you just do the right thing?”
“You’re nothing you know”
“They would be better off without you”
From the moment that beautiful bright star rises and I start my day
To the moment that brilliantly sad moon appears and I’m alone again
She is always there
Haunting my thoughts and dancing to her own bizarre tune
Crippling the very essence that makes me, ME
I call her “Anxiety”
She is strong. But, she will not win
I tell myself this because I have no other choice
Deep down I know she means well. Protecting me from harm even
She might even be an angel
(Do they really exist?
What do I Know I’m only fifteen!)
But then again, I’m only fifteen
Fifteen years in this amazing parade called life
So many chapters to flip back to and re-read
My sister’s loud and contagious laugh
The sultry smell of my mom’s spaghetti
The way my friends can make me smile with just a look
My first kiss! As awkward as it was
No. I will not let you win today
I know you’re worried for me. But you can rest now
I got this
