Panda’s Dance Party, Vol. 2, Meghan Jenkins’ second album, is now available to purchase, download, and stream on every music platform. A collection of fifteen EDM tracks, the album visits many styles and expands on many of the themes and rhythms that Meghan debuted in her first album, which is also still available on every music platform.

Vol. 2 is a standalone album that showcases Meghan’s willingness to experiment with sounds, use different instruments, andā€”much like her approach to lifeā€”just have fun.

It’s a party album, and true to that concept, anyone who listens to it will look for a party at which they can put this on the sound system. One platform, Juno, catalogued Panda’s Dance Party, Vol. 1, as “Dirty Dubstep/Trap/Grime,” and Vol. 2 as “Experimental/Electronic.” I do not know how the algorithms located these two albums in those two (or five) different categories, as both albums can be classified in all of these five categories and likely more besides. That is how expansive the music is.

As I wrote about Vol. 1 last year, the value in both albums is in how I (Mark) respond to the music; because EDM is an entire genre of music that I know very little about and pay attention to less, my first reaction to Meghan’s pursuit of a sound in this music was, “I’ll listen to it because she’s my friend and a trusted collaborator.” For a non-“Trap/Grime,” non-EDM listener, I’m happy to report that I love both albums, even though my first name appears in the title of one of the tracks. Meghan’s music may be “experimental,” but more important to me, it is catchy and great company.

The last track, “Safety Dance,” carries the same name as the title of her forthcoming second novel, Safety Dance. Watch this space for the publication announcement.
