Does our own Meghan Jenkins belong on a future cover of a major international lifestyle magazine with a readership of nine million readers per month? Anyone and everyone who knows Meghan likely thinks so, and MAXIM magazine may hold that opinion as well.

It will take all of our votes to push MAXIM magazine from 99% convinced to 100% convinced and put Meghan Jenkins—actress, model, author, comedian, music composer—on a future cover of the esteemed publication. MAXIM magazine holds an annual online vote, the MAXIM CoverGirl contest, to place a worthy face on a cover, as photographed by the renowned fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon. Meghan Jenkins has accepted a nomination to be a contestant in this vote.

Included with the photoshoot and cover appearance is a prize of $25,000. When asked what the financial reward would mean for her, Meghan replied, “I am in entertainment and have my own production company and also live at home where I help take care of my parents. My mother has advanced stage Alzheimer’s, and my father, a Vietnam veteran, is also a multi-time cancer survivor. I am good with money, and this would all go to very useful and beneficial things needed in my life and in the world. Thank you for your consideration. God Bless America.” Asked to identify her “secret talent,” she replied, “I’m psychic.”

Besides being a psychic, Meghan is a writer, comedian, performer, podcaster, social media influencer, music composer and producer, painter, and set designer. She is also a self-starter who continues to assemble a team of writers and performers—including me—for a variety of projects through the use of every social media platform available.

It is a beauty contest, of course—and Meghan is beautiful—and it is a popularity contest, thus votes from her fans are needed, and Meghan’s insistence that her vivacious and fun personality be a part of what she offers in the handful of photos that MAXIM includes in her MAXIM CoverGirl profile makes a vote for her all the more appealing. Three of the photos are at top. She will not compromise to compete.

When she was asked to submit photos, Meghan wrote me, “I was like there’s no way they’re going to accept me. I mean look at some of the photos I sent in. I’m a ridiculous person, but apparently a pretty one.” From the start, what got her attention more than the popularity contest was the chance to grow her career and her network that the contest represented and a one-time financial award that would not change her life but would be life-enhancing.

All the photos Meghan has submitted to the contest are selfies taken with her smartphone. Thus, she is her own model as well as her own photographer, stylist, lighting designer, cosmetician, and agent.

When one looks at her competition in the contest, as seen in other MAXIM CoverGirl submissions, the point is plain: the models are professional models, the photos supplied to MAXIM for popular vote are from professional studios, and the models are styled by professionals.

The MAXIM contest rules allow for professional models to submit entries styled and photographed by professionals, of course. In previous similar contests, Meghan Jenkins’ self-styled beauty submitted in smartphone selfies carried her into the final round of voting several times in which other beautiful women have had assistants maximize (and MAXIMize) their potential.

As the old expression has it, Meghan always keeps it real. When I asked her for a quote about the MAXIM CoverGirl contest, she simply said,

“I just got back from the dentist. ✊
“P.S. 🤡🎈🔥💐🦾.”

Meghan’s love of art has led to a personal exploration of many forms, forums, and formats for self-expression. Her paintings have been shown in galleries, her personality and approach to comedy win her spots on podcasts and comedy panels, her beauty and style have attracted notice from prestigious publications like MAXIM, and her music recently won praise from producers and airplay on FM radio.

I often point out that there is a show business axiom that one could build a brick wall on a stage and a charismatic performer will attract an audience even from behind that wall. Brick wall, meet charismatic performer. There is an audience out there that does not know it is about to discover and celebrate the multi-talented Meghan Jenkins. With your votes, MAXIM magazine may help her knock down that wall.

“I’m honored to have been asked to compete,” Meghan said humbly.
