You Are a Powerhouse

You Are a Powerhouse

You are here to change the world in some amazing way!

* * * *
A lot of people are stuck in situations that are unfair. Home life might be in complete shambles, maybe you are unlucky in love and/or finances, perhaps you have a sister you wish you got along with but don’t … death, disease, poverty are literally everywhere you look. I know that I have felt helpless and hopeless. I know that feeling well. Desperate, lonely, misunderstood and wondering “why am I here?” and “what is the point?”

A Valentine’s Day Disaster

A Valentine’s Day Disaster

By Mark Aldrich
It was as if every wish I had made in childhood for a hole in the ground to open up and rescue me had been answered in reverse …

* * * *
I bear a scar from the first Valentine’s Day that I had a reason to celebrate as Valentine’s Day, as a part of a couple.

Until the last decade, my romantic history was a long walk alone in an empty field, punctuated by moments in which I interrupted someone else’s walk, attempted to try a relationship, and discovered that I try people’s patience instead. (All the women I have dated are brilliant and accomplished and I was lucky to get to know them; I was stuck at age fifteen for an astonishingly long time, however.)

Vote for Meghan in the Miss Jetset 2021 cover model contest here!

Meghan Jenkins and I started this website with several of her friends last spring, and I felt it was time to talk with Meghan about the challenges and successes of creating and performing in a 2020 that offered a vastly different landscape than any previous year.

We exchanged messages by email, text, Instagram IM, and telepathy. (That last one is made-up.) The multi-platform conversation offered below has been lightly edited for clarity and consistency.

Jetset Magazine, “the premier affluent lifestyle print and online resource,” has grown in popularity and prestige in the thirteen-plus years since its founding. A lively compendium of all the best in life from real estate to high-end lifestyle products, the publication is not merely a glossy monthly display of luxury for luxury’s sake, it boasts articles about prudent philanthropy and contributors such as Robert Kiyosaki, the highly regarded author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, and Dr. John Demartini.

Jetset Magazine also hosts an annual cover model competition that the publication uses to bring attention to women who are on the cusp of being discovered by the greater public, like the current title-holder. The winner will be awarded $50,000, the opportunity to appear on a future cover of Jetset Magazine, and enjoy high-profile events. The competition raises funds for the Andrew McDonough B+ (Be Positive) Foundation, a major children’s cancer charity that provides funds for research as well as financial assistance for families with children with cancer across the nation.

Our own Meghan Jenkins was nominated for this competition, and readers of this website are invited to vote for her each day. Meghan is a writer, performer, podcaster, Instagram influencer, music composer and producer, painter, and set designer. She is also a self-starter who in 2020 continued to assemble a team of writers and performers for a variety of projects through the use of every social media platform available.

Voting started on Tuesday, January 5, and fans of Meghan can vote once each day for free, can double their votes if they opt-in to receive email updates about Meghan’s progress, and can buy votes with donations to the Andrew McDonough B+ (Be Positive) Foundation ($1 = one vote).

“I’m honored to have been asked to compete,” Meghan writes.

Meghan’s Music Earns King’s Praise

Meghan’s Music Earns King’s Praise

Panda’s Dance Party, Meghan Jenkins’ debut album, is available from these fine music services: Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes Store, Amazon Music, deezer, Tidal, Pandora, Juno Download.

It is a huge compliment when a musician declares an interest in a future collaboration with another musician after he has heard less than one entire track from the new musician, but that is what happened for Meghan Jenkins last week when Azar King heard the first track off her new EDM album, Panda’s Dance Party.

Like many creative artists and performers in this past year, King has built a platform for himself—and others, which is important and also rather moving—on social media. He appears nightly on his Instagram account with live diaries, rap recitations, and open mics.
